Arts venues discounted near transit stops

lightrailcarTribune reporter Sonu Munshi writes today that Valley arts patrons can get 2-for-1 admissions or discounted tickets at 11 venues, courtesy of a special promotion launched Wednesday, as a way to boost light rail ridership and business at local arts centers.

If you can afford to travel this summer, you’re likely to find some good deals with a little planning. Gas prices, while on the rise, are still much lower than they were last summer. Airlines, reeling from the global recession that has shrunk passenger and cargo demand, are likely to cut flight schedules to cut costs — but hold the price of fares steady. Hotels have more rooms than demand for them. So if you’re planning on heading to the beach, the mountains or the lake, minimize the cost of your trip with these tips.

Tickets, please! Valley Metro fares going up Wednesday

Commuter alert!

Valley Metro is raising fares come Wednesday, July 1.

As the Tribune’s Mike Branom reports, the cost of a one-way ticket is going up by 50 cents, to $1.75. An all-day pass, probably the most common fare purchased by commuters, will be $3.50.

So, rat racers, you have through Tuesday to purchase passes at the old prices. Here’s a chart that summarizes the changes:
