Enjoy national parks for free

maca_visitorsThe National Park Service is hoping a few free weekends will stimulate summer vacation season during this recession.

July 18-19 and Aug. 15-16, you can get into all 147 national parks and monuments — including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite — for free, with no entrance fees. (Father’s Day weekend was also free.)

According to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, most Americans live less than a day’s drive from a national park and last year national parks attracted more than 275 million visits, generating an estimated $10.6 billion for local economies and supporting more than 213,000 jobs.
