Give blood, get a concert ticket

bloodmobileThe weeks surrounding Thanksgiving are a notoriously difficult time for blood banks. To combat the lull in donations, United Blood Services of Arizona is offering an incentive to keep blood donors rolling up their sleeves.

Give blood Nov. 16-30, and you’ll receive a voucher for one complimentary ticket to a Phoenix Symphony performance. United Blood Services offers other incentives, too — things like free oil changes for donors who give by Nov. 13 and the chance to win one of three pairs of Phoenix Coyotes suite tickets and a T-shirt autographed by team captain Shane Doan.

To make an appointment to donate blood, call 1-877-448-4483, or visit www.UnitedBloodServicesAZ.org. Click on “Donate Blood,” and enter your ZIP code.

East Valley Donor Centers are open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. They are at 1989 W. Elliot Road in Chandler and 1337 S. Gilbert Road in Mesa.

United Blood Services will also host public blood drives Nov. 16-30 at the following locations:

Apache Junction

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tues., Nov. 17, at Central Arizona College, 273 Old West Highway.
